Where can I get wedding flowers?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

I live in Alaska and need wedding flowers without pay a lot for shipping. I’ve seen some websites online but they charge about a hundred for shipping to Alaska. Any ideas?

Alaska, wow.
Well it depends on when your getting married to what you are going to pay. Holidays- expensive$$$$$. Out of season flowers $$$$-expensive.
Do you live near a florist? Do you have a lot to spend? or just the bare? Are you also needing flowers for a church and reception?
If you have the money let the florist do it. If you want more controll, yes it can be done. You can do it all. Just takes time.
Due to weather, freezing air, and multi-reasons on what can happen will happen, on the brides bouquet and the grooms bout. and if you want fresh flowers. Have a florist do it. If troubles arrive they can fix it. Wrong flowers sent, wrong color, burns, flowers not opening in time. THEY KNOW THE TRICKS OF THE TRADE.
Now your girls can also be done by florist.
A single flower to a bouquet, in fresh flowers.
or…artifical.. and their are some nice ones out there that look real.
Bouts for the guys and corsages, you can go artificial and have them done way in advance. Our order mini carnations or mini roses in fresh. Learn to put thin wire through them and florist tape them. Learn now….so you’ll be ready.
Flowers on the cake. Go artificial…cut short. put in plactic bag, label cake. But in reception box with your tablecloths, streamers, ect.. your ready with the flowers.
Church. Well that I’d have the florist do the 2 big ones, Then get boston ferns, or palm plants place them around, Make bows for the first 2 (4 bows) seating down isle. But artifical greens (Ivy) and flowers to match your colors in the center. Then alternate every other row of seating with a bow and greens. Then drape ribbon behind each bow to scallop. Then at end where wedding party walks down put a bit of ribbon across their so invites won’t walk down the center.
Your centerpiece can be yours and the girls bouquets that are layed down the main table over a bed of ribbons and greenerys.
Centerpieces can be simple and elegant. A short thin bud vase with a single flower sitting on top of a mirror with 2 votive candles reflecting its lighting. If they don’t allow real candles, get those new artificial votive candles.
Balloons from a party supply place clustered here and their throughout the room add festive color and apeal.
If its during a holiday. Use the holiday colors and decor here and there. Yards of materials draped down the wall or celings in tule netting giving a look of floating ceilings. Fall time, leaves, pumpkins, fruits here and there add appeal.
If yours is a yard wedding, and the plants are not blooming. Artfical or fresh cut flowers cut and tied to bushes give the appearence of blooming. Bowls of floating flowers with marbles, Candles, Tables with tables cloths and a strip of draping cloth going down the middle from one side to the other is an eye catcher.
Get bride books, pull pages, put in a folder, get big color swatches of your colors carry with you every where, place them next to items that might intrest you. Buy 3 or 5 vases of one style, then another grouping of another style. They don’t all have to look the same. It also makes your guest look around. give them away as a gift for coming.
Look in yellow pages for flower supply call way ahead of time to ask if you can buy bulk flowers. Check out Michaels crafts and JoAnns for artificals and supplys. Ask questions. Go to bridal shops to cruze ask other brides what they are doing.
Hope these help.

Do dandelions really change from the little yellow flower to the white globular flower?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

I always thought a dandelion was the little yellow flower, and that the white round one was the one where you blew off all the petals and made a wish was a completely different flower. Are they really the same flower?

If so, why and how do they change?

They are the same. The round white globe is actually seeds that are formed when the yellow flower leaves disappear. It is kind of an interesting weed because it creates it’s seeds and then recreates itself.

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

I wanted to keep few of the fresh flowers from my wedding boquet foever. Is there any way i can dry them up??? is it ok to put the flower in beween the pages of the thick heavy book to dries up or should i dry it in fresh air??

Secure with a rubber band. Tie a pretty ribbon around them then a string and hang them upside down on the wall. Air drying is the oldest and easiest method for drying flowers.

When you send flowers through a delivery program is your address revealed to the recipient?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

No,
Your information is given to the florist and the florist keeps it in their records – the flowers go to that person with a card that you can have them fill out for you when you order the flowers – usually the person has no idea who sent them the flowers until the open the card and read who its from -

Try Interflora (www.interflora.com.au). You can order online and they do deliveries all over the world. I’ve sent flowers to someone in Ireland from Australia, and I’ve been sent flowers by people from overseas. They’re very good and reliable. Plus you can pick out exactly what you want to send.
