Can i use house hold spray paint on fresh flowers ?

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

i want to color some flowers, for our wedding and money is tight. I know there is a Special paint you can get to color flowers. But i was wondering if anyone knew if you could use regular spray paint?

If you use regular household spray paint, you will end up burning them. The chemicals are harsh.
Now if you have a Michaels Craft store or a JoAnnd’s. near by, and even some Home depots carry the " Design Master Spray Paint " that florist use to tint, and change the color of flowers.
The art of spraying flowers is easy. You need fresh flowers. fully hydrated with water. A paper towel placed in your hand to protect. place flower in this. If you want just the tips painted squeeze the flower. Can about 6′ away should prevent burning.
For full color change. lightly spray, then repeat. over and over, wait for paint to dry inbetween coatings. or it will look sloopy.
Carnations and mini carnations are the easiest and best for painting. Lilys don’t do well, And just tiping roses is best. They burn easily.
Even better to use. Would be to use imatation silk flowers in the color you want. And add fresh flowers here and their, for that fresh apperance. Even adding ribbon loops and tails will give you the colors you want.
but remember, the darker the color you go. In the pictures that will be taken. The dark colors reseede into the color black sometimes, and you will get the effect of holes in your picture.
Good Luck.

how can i keep cut flowers fresh in water?

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

i want my fresh cut flowers to llive longer in a vase with water, is there any thing i can add to the water to achieve this?

actually most of these answers are on the mark a little bit of seven up or Sprite in the water is a nice little trick also you can use an aspirin in the water.
The other thing you will have to do to extend the life is to cut the flowers under running water. Cutting them above the existing cut will open pores back up to feed the flowers water again. The Sprite will give it sugar and the citrus will also help the ph to be more acid 6.0ph which plants like.
